Star Crossed at Neill-Cochran

  • Beerthoven Concert Series 2310 San Gabriel Austin, TX, 78705 United States (map)

This February, our star-studded chamber series will turn star-crossed in this musical tribute to the ecstasies and exquisite pains of love known to all Valentines. From references to Romeo and Juliet in Beethoven's Op. 18 No. 1 Quartet to Alexander Borodin's String Quartet No. 2, popularized by the musical and love story Kismet, the Artisan String Quartet will have you swooning! Also to be featured are quartets by Joseph Bologne (the first classical composer of African descent to gain worldwide acclaim) as well as Edward Grieg.

If that sounds like too much great music for one program, you're right! That's why Artisan String Quartet will be performing a substantially different program at each performance! Buy tickets to one, two, or all three performances! (Use links below to navigate to tickets for Thursday and Friday performances at Saengerrunde Hall or stay on the current page for Saturday, February 16th at Neill-Cochran)

Thanks to our sponsors, we will be serving free warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages--all at no additional cost!

Dating back to 1856, the Neill-Cochran House is one of the ten oldest buildings in Austin. Its columned, Greek facade and rough, brick exterior is an historic and ideal setting for Beerthoven's mix of refinement and approachability.

Kids are welcome! Tickets for children as well as students through college age are available for $10. Purchase at the door or email daniel@beerthoven.com for advance student tickets.

The Artisan String Quartet is an Austin-based ensemble made up of four of the Austin Symphony's best string players; Patrice Calixte, Mariama Alcântara, Bruce Williams, and Douglas Harvey. With a shared passion for classical music and an unwavering commitment to artistic excellence, the Artisan String Quartet captivates audiences with their breathtaking performances and profound musical interpretations.

This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
