Cloudy with a Chance of Ale at Saengerrunde Hall

  • Saengerrunde Hall 1607 San Jacinto Boulevard Austin, TX, 78701 United States (map)

Our intimate concert experience will feel a bit more Rumi with these works inspired by the Persian poet as well as the Sun, Moon, and Clouds. The Amorsima Trio (violin, viola, and cello) will present vibrant works including Jessica Meyers' I Only Speak of the Sun, Jeffrey Mumford's "in soft echoes...a world awaits", and Kaija Saariaho's Cloud Trio.

Thanks to our sponsors, we will be serving warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages--all at no additional cost!

This event will take place at the historic Saengerrunde Hall in downtown Austin; home to Austin's oldest cultural institution, the German singing society the Austin Saengerrunde. Experience Beerthoven in the heart of the Live Music Capital of the World!

Kids are welcome! Tickets for children as well as students through college age are available for $10. Purchase at the door or email daniel@beerthoven.com for advance student tickets.

This project has been financed in whole or in part by the City of Austin’s Elevate Grant Program.

Amorsima Trio is a boundary-pushing ensemble that redefines the traditional expectations of a string trio, bringing a fresh and contemporary perspective to the stage. Comprised of violinist Mia Detwiler, violist Michael Capone, and cellist Kourtney Newton, the trio was founded in 2016 through a shared passion for new music. With an unwavering commitment to expanding the string trio repertoire, the Amorsima Trio actively commissions new works, seeking out collaborations with innovative composers. Recent projects include the premiere of 21 miniatures in response to Beethoven's 250th anniversary and performances as a featured ensemble at the University of Louisville New Music Festival, Mise-en Music Festival, and New Music on the Bayou. The name "Amorsima,” which means "that which does not come from fate" was inspired by the Xenakis work Morsima-Amorsima and symbolizes their pursuit to redefine the traditional expectations of the string trio.

Sometimes there is a parking attendant charging $30, especially when concurrent events take place in the Moody Center. In that event, you may look for parking on street or at the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage, three blocks south of the Saengerrunde on San Jacinto (this is typically free).
